Our Experience at the Kingsway Hall

Friday, September 11th, 2009

My parents stayed at Kingsway Hall when they traveled to London on their honeymoon. When I finally got married, I wanted to take my new bride to the same location my parents stayed at. In this case we booked a room at Kingsway Hall for 3 nights. We had many other plans that we wanted to execute and a 3-day stay was all that we could afford.

We paid less than $200 for our stay and we got a lot of amenities in return! We received free newspapers in the morning as well as breakfast. When asked about activities and attractions in London, our front desk clerk was very helpful and made some great suggestions. Along with each suggestion we got a map and very clear direction.

Because we saved so much money on the hotel room, we decided to use the extra cash to rent a car from the front desk. For 3 days we enjoyed everything that Central London had to offer. When we hit a major landmarked anniversary I will be bringing my wife back here to the Kingsway Hall hotel!

How we found ourselves at St. Giles in London

Friday, September 11th, 2009

When traveling around Europe you never know what you can expect! While traveling around London we ended up running out of gas near the St. Giles hotel. Due to the fact that it was incredibly late, we decided to check into this hotel for a night. Check in was incredibly simple and we still got a great rate even though it was so last minute. Within about 20 minutes we were up in our rooms getting ready to wind down for the night.

We paid about 60 American dollars for the room itself and we got a lot in return. We had a concierge service when we needed it and we even sent out to have our laundry taken care of. Overall, it was a great way to get some sleep and relax from driving around all day.

In the morning we were greeted with a nice morning wake up call from the front desk. After getting dressed and ready to go we decided to take up St. Giles on their free breakfast and newspaper. I enjoyed fresh fruit and coffee while my husband had a hot bowl of wheat cereal. Upon checking out I told myself that the next time we found ourselves out of gas in London, we were going to stay at the St. Giles hotel again.

A Simple Stay at Radisson Edwardian Grafton Hotel

Friday, September 11th, 2009

When planning a trip for my family and I, we decided to stay at a few different hotels. This was simply due to the fact that we had a lot of things that we wanted to go and do. When we made our flight reservations we chose NOT to book any rooms in advance.

Upon arriving in London the first hotel we stayed at was the Edwardian Grafton Hotel. This is a lovely little hotel that had everything the whole family need. With 2 adults and 3 teenagers, we decided to book two double rooms. Each room was spacious and allowed each person to sleep comfortably.

There were plenty of activities to do around the hotel that the kids could do. Our two girls enjoyed mornings in the café downstairs and the boys ran around central London. We used this hotel as our meeting place when we wanted to get together for meals and updates. Overall I believe we will stay at this great hotel if we make the trip back to Central London!

Pit Stop at the Strand Palace Hotel

Friday, September 11th, 2009

My friend and I were just coming back from a long trip abroad. We had two more nights left and we decided to make our way to central London. While walking around we came across the Strand Palace hotel. While a palace seemed to sound a little bit expensive, we were quite surprised that it did not cost an arm and a leg.

We checked in and immediately explored our surroundings. T he bathrooms were nice and spacious and made me want to take a shower immediately. The beds were full sized and surprisingly comfortable. Overall, it looked as though we were going to enjoy a nice stay in a great hotel.

We received an early morning wake up call and checked out as soon as we were ready. The next time we come back here, we will definitely book a room for at least 3 nights or more!

Corus Hyde Park Hotel

Friday, September 11th, 2009

I fell in love with Hyde Park about 3 years ago when I studied abroad for college at Oxford. Now, I am bout 28 years old and I managed to travel back there with my best friend. Instead of the President Hotel, we decided to book a double room at the Corus Hotel. This hotel was in a great location for anyone looking to stay central.

There was plenty of activities to participate in when we stayed at this hotel. We drank coffee in the morning in the café and at night we enjoyed fine dining and drinks at the bar. This made things very convenient. Of course we did take the time to enjoy some of the great nightlife that Hyde Park and London had to offer.

We only managed to stay a few nights in the Corus Hotel, but it sure felt like we got a lot more than what we actually paid for. London is known for having great hotels for great prices. You will not find anything like the Corus Hotel Hyde Park in the United States for less than $100 a night. We managed to pay only about $75 per night.

Thistle Euston

Friday, September 11th, 2009

Thistle Hotel EustonI stumbled upon the Thistle Euston completely by mistake. I was actually looking for another hotel but ended up getting caught in a rainstorm. Here I was standing right in the middle of a contemporary and sleek hotel room. Due to the fact that I was not going to be able to leave anytime soon, I decided to book a single room at this hotel.

I was delighted to see that I would be able to take a hot shower and dry my hair when I arrived in my room. There were two full sized beds as well as a large television set. I took my bath and turned in for the night. Besides hearing the hustle and bustle of London I managed to get an excellent long night’s sleep.

I decided to book my next night at the Thistle Euston as well. I enjoyed some of their contemporary dining downstairs and enjoyed my stay. The next time you want to get in on some great international dining and sleeping arrangements get stuck in this hotel. For less than $100 American dollars a night you could enjoy a nice lap of luxury within Central London.

Rydges Kensington Plaza

Friday, September 11th, 2009

My husband loves Kensington Park so on our 20th wedding anniversary I booked a room at Rydges Kensington Plaza. This was the first time we stayed in this hotel and we absolutely fell in love with it! The rooms were completely affordable which meant that I could afford to book a couple of extra nights. It was a great idea to plan on paying no more than 50 Euros on a room.

Upon check –in we were greeted by the bellboy as well as the front desk clerk. Check in took less than 10 minutes and we were on out way up to the 4th floor! Noticed that they rooms were quite large and there was plenty of room for our bags. After settling in we took advantage of the location and saw all of the sites within walking distance.

Had a great time for a few days – took a tour of Buckingham Palace, saw the Jersey Boys show at the Prince Edward Theatre and tons of other stuff. We LOVE London!

Needless to say we cannot wait to come back here once again next anniversary!

Extended Stay at Bloomsbury Park

Friday, September 11th, 2009

A good friend of mine told me to make my way to London whenever I had the chance to. As I neared my 40’s I decided that now was the right time for me. So I booked my plane tickets as well as my hotel accommodations online. I decided to stay at the Bloomsbury Park hotel, which was also a recommendation from my good friend.

I only planned on staying a week and needed to be as thrifty as possible. I was planning to spend no more than 60 Euros a night. I got a lovely room at Bloomsbury Park for only 48 Euros, which meant that I was going to have some extra money. This was already a plus in my book.

Compared to most hotels this hotel was not as large as I though it would be. There were only 95 rooms, which gave me a certain level of privacy. I liked the size of the hotel and the fact that the staff could take better care of the guests due to the smaller size.

I noticed during my stay that I was never bored even when I was staying in my hotel room. There was plenty to do and I enjoyed hanging out in some of the family rooms that this hotel housed. Everyone was approachable and friendly which makes me want to come back here when I hit my 50’s!

Presidential Treatment at the President Hotel

Friday, September 11th, 2009

As an international food critic I tend to travel a lot to some of the best restaurants around the world. I have tasted some of the best food that anyone has ever tasted as well as some of the worst. When I came to critique a restaurant in Central London I decided to stay at the President Hotel. This was actually my 3rd time in London, and this hotel had always caught my eye.

I loved the style as soon as I walked in as well as the service. My room was all taken care of, the $60 a night was not an issue and would not be an issue for the average family traveling to London. I had Wi-Fi access wherever I went in the hotel, which meant that I could walk downstairs with the notebook and work away. The café around the corner in Russell Square was a nice treat as well.

I stayed for a day extra after ii did my job. I allowed myself time to relax and possibly enjoy Theatreland. There are many things to do and see when in London, make sure you choose a decent hotel such as the President Hotel when you make your travels here.

Summer Vacation at the Imperial Hotel

Friday, September 11th, 2009

We took a summer vacation all the way up through Europe just to get some rest and relaxation. On the way out we had a 3-day stay in the middle of London before catching our flight. Most of the places around the airport were completely booked so we decided to venture off into Central London. The Imperial Hotel was the winning bid and we reserved a room.

Due to the fact that this was a simply stay, we did not really expect very much. On the other hand when we walked in we were welcomed and within 15 minutes we were on the 3rd floor in our hotel room. As soon as I pulled out my laptop I was connected to the Internet compliments of this excellent hotel.

Before we headed to the airport we paid off our hotel bill and prepared to head out. I made sure to take advantage of the currency exchange service that was offered through the hotel. If I find myself in London again, I will make a pit stop simply for this great hotel.
